Cover Supervisor – Secondary Schools

About the Role

We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and reliable Cover Supervisors to work across a range of secondary schools in Salford, Bolton and Bury.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience working with young people, graduates considering a career in teaching, teaching assistants looking for progression, or experienced cover supervisors seeking flexible or full-time work.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes during teacher absences, ensuring pupils remain engaged with pre-planned work and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise classes across a variety of subjects using lesson plans provided by teaching staff.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies.
• Ensure students remain on task and complete set work.
• Promote a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.
• Support students with differing abilities and learning needs.
• Report back to teaching staff on student progress and classroom behaviour.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with young people in an educational, coaching, youth work or mentoring setting.
• Strong behaviour management skills.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm, confident and professional in the classroom.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
