Job description

Teaching Personnel are seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a well-respected secondary school in Horndean. This full-time position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on classroom experience or explore a future career in teaching.

In this role, you will be responsible for supervising classes of students aged 11–16 when their regular teachers are absent, ensuring that learning continues effectively. You will deliver pre-prepared lessons, maintain a calm and focused classroom environment, and support students across a range of subjects. The role may also involve providing additional support to pupils with special educational needs (SEN), helping them engage with lessons and participate fully in classroom activities. You will manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies, keep students motivated and on task, and provide feedback to teaching staff regarding pupil progress and conduct.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with secondary-aged pupils, with some familiarity in supporting SEN students considered advantageous. You should be confident in managing classrooms, able to adapt quickly to different situations, and skilled at building positive relationships with students. A proactive attitude, patience, and genuine enthusiasm for supporting young people’s education are essential.

This position offers a full-time contract with an immediate start and competitive daily rates between £95 and £130. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
