Food Tech Cover Supervisor
Job description
Teaching Personnel are recruiting a Food Technology Cover Supervisor to support a secondary school in Portsmouth. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a genuine interest in food, nutrition, and practical learning to play an important role in delivering engaging lessons and supporting student progress across Key Stages 3 and 4.
In this role, you will supervise Food Technology lessons in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring students remain focused, engaged, and safe during both practical and theory-based sessions. You will follow pre-set lesson plans, support pupils with practical tasks where appropriate, and help maintain a calm and productive learning environment. You will be organised, proactive, and able to adapt quickly to the changing demands of a school environment. Strong communication skills and effective classroom management are essential, along with an interest in supporting young people and contributing positively to their learning experience. Previous experience working in a school setting, or within Food Technology, catering, or a similar environment, would be beneficial but is not essential, as full guidance and support will be provided.
