Job description

Teaching Personnel are looking for a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a well-regarded secondary school in Portsmouth. This full-time role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking valuable classroom experience or considering a future career in teaching.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will provide cover for classes of students aged 11–16 in the absence of the teacher, ensuring that pupils remain engaged with pre-prepared learning materials. You will help maintain a positive, well-managed learning environment across a variety of subjects and provide a small amount of support to students with special educational needs (SEN) where required. The role involves delivering and overseeing lesson plans, managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies, keeping students focused and productive, and providing feedback to teaching staff regarding both progress and conduct.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with secondary-aged students, with some familiarity in supporting pupils with SEN being advantageous. You should be confident in managing a classroom, flexible in responding to different situations, and able to build positive relationships with students. Strong communication skills, patience, and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting young learners are essential for success in this role.

This position offers a full-time contract with an immediate start and competitive daily pay rates of £95–£120. You will join a supportive school environment with opportunities for professional development and guidance from Teaching Personnel’s experienced recruitment team.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
