Job description

Teaching Personnel are seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a well-established secondary school in Fareham. This full-time role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain practical classroom experience or explore a future career in teaching.

In this position, you will take responsibility for supervising classes of students aged 11–16 when their regular teachers are absent, ensuring that lessons continue smoothly and students remain engaged. You will work from pre-prepared lesson plans, maintain a structured and positive classroom environment, and support learning across a variety of subjects. The role may also involve providing additional assistance to pupils with special educational needs (SEN), helping them access the curriculum and participate fully in class activities. You will manage behaviour in line with school policies and provide clear feedback to teaching staff on student progress, engagement, and conduct.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with secondary-aged pupils, with some familiarity in supporting SEN students considered advantageous. Confidence in classroom management, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to different situations are essential, alongside strong communication skills, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting young people’s learning.

This role offers a full-time contract with an immediate start and competitive daily pay rates between £95 and £130. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
