Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for cover supervisors to work in excellent and good Ofsted rated secondary schools across Essex. The schools roughly have 1000 students aged between 11-16 years. This role is excellent for someone wanting to increase their experience within a classroom and is aspiring to become a teacher. A Cover Supervisor is in charge of the classroom management and makes sure that the pupils keep on task. They help the running of a school, by freeing up the regular qualified teaching staff to carry out essential marking, planning and preparation. This position is within a Secondary school and would need to be confident teaching Key Stage 3 and 4.

This role requires school based experience as well as Maths and English at grade C/Level 4 and ideally a degree within education.

Your role as the cover supervisor:

  • Manage the classroom.
  • Ensure that all students concentrate on achieving their desired goal.
  • Cover pre-planned lessons.
  • Able to cover a range of subjects.
  • Having good time allocation and effective planning.
  • Working hours 8:30am-3:30pm, with no weekends.

The pay;

  • The pay is up to £350 per week, depending on experience.

Work for this role often comes in on daily basis, so you will need to be flexible. However, if you are good the job is regular and it may even turn into a permanent position. Many people use the role of Cover Supervisor as a kick-start to a teaching career!
