Teaching Personnel are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Complex SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in the Bolton area from September. This full-time position will involve supporting both primary and secondary-aged pupils with a range of complex special educational needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech and language difficulties, sensory processing needs, physical disabilities, genetic conditions, and medical needs requiring additional support throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils with complex SEN on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
• Assist with the delivery of personalised learning activities tailored to individual needs and EHCP targets.
• Support pupils with communication difficulties using strategies such as Makaton, PECS, visual timetables, and other communication methods where appropriate.
• Assist with personal care requirements, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene routines where necessary.
• Support students with physical needs and mobility, including the safe use of specialist equipment.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and social interaction throughout the school day.
• Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all students.

Requirements

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with complex special educational needs is essential.
• Experience within SEN schools, care settings, residential services, healthcare environments, or support work roles is highly desirable.
• A patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils with varying needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Confidence supporting pupils with communication difficulties, learning disabilities, and physical needs.
• Willingness to support with personal care when required.
• A genuine passion for helping children and young people reach their full potential.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel).
