SEN Personal Care Assistant Required

Teaching Personnel are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and resilient SEN Personal Care Assistant to support students with a range of additional needs within a specialist secondary educational setting in Bolton.

This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping young people achieve their full potential and who are comfortable providing personal care support as part of their daily responsibilities.

The Role

As an SEN Personal Care Assistant, you will work closely with pupils aged 11-19 who have a range of complex learning difficulties, physical disabilities, autism spectrum conditions, and communication needs. You will provide both educational and personal care support, helping students access learning opportunities whilst promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing personal care support, including toileting, changing, feeding, and hygiene assistance where required.
  • Supporting students during lessons and helping them engage with learning activities.
  • Assisting with mobility and physical support needs.
  • Encouraging students' social, emotional, and communication development.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
  • Maintaining accurate records and following safeguarding procedures at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), care needs, or disabilities.
  • Are comfortable providing personal care support.
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Can remain calm and resilient in challenging situations.
  • Hold relevant care, health, or education qualifications (desirable but not essential).
  • Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
