Position: Complex Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: Llandeilo & Surrounding Areas
Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Daily Rate: From £89.38
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join our growing team of education professionals. This position is based in a purpose-built specialist centre that supports pupils aged 11–19 who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), including those with severe or profound learning difficulties. The school offers a highly supportive environment with tailored resources and a capacity for up to 35 pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

Work closely with class teachers to support pupils in Key Stages 3 and 4, helping deliver personalised learning plans.

Provide targeted 1:1 support where required.

Assist with managing challenging behaviour and applying de-escalation strategies.

Receive on-the-job training to understand the school’s approach, culture, and expectations.

Access additional professional development through Teaching Personnel, including Team Teach behaviour management training.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
-
Experience working with children or young people with Autism, Complex Needs, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), or Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

Confidence in managing challenging behaviour and applying calm, structured responses.
-
A nurturing, patient, and adaptable approach to working with students who require high levels of support.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.

A Teaching Assistant qualification is beneficial but not essential.
Essential Requirements:

Must be a driver with access to your own vehicle.
-
Have the right to work in the UK and be able to provide appropriate documentation.
-
Be registered (or willing to register) with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) and complete an Enhanced DBS check.

Provide two years of references, including at least one that is related to working with children or young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
