Job description

Part-Time SEN Teaching Opportunity – September 2026

An inclusive and nurturing specialist educational provision in Yeovil is currently seeking a passionate SEN Teacher to join its dedicated team on a part-time basis from September 2026, with the possibility of an earlier start for suitable applicants.

This rewarding position would suit an experienced SEN practitioner or a qualified teacher looking for a flexible opportunity within specialist education.

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils requiring tailored educational approaches and additional emotional support in order to access learning successfully.

 The salary will be Pro Rata.

 

About the Position

You will be responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that support pupils academically, socially, and emotionally.

  • Planning and delivering inclusive learning activities
  • Supporting pupils with a range of additional educational needs
  • Promoting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Working collaboratively with support staff and families
  • Monitoring attainment and adapting lessons accordingly
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
  • Creating a safe and encouraging classroom environment

The provision supports children and young people with autism, moderate learning difficulties, communication challenges, and social, emotional and mental health needs.

 

What the School is Looking For

Applicants must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) and demonstrate excellent classroom management and communication skills.

Previous experience within SEN environments would be advantageous; however, teachers from mainstream settings with a genuine interest in specialist education are welcomed.

The ideal candidate will be compassionate, proactive, patient, and committed to helping pupils achieve meaningful progress.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
