Street, Somerset | Full-Time | September 2026 Start

Teaching Personnel is recruiting an experienced SEN Teacher for a rewarding full-time opportunity within a specialist educational setting in Street, Somerset, starting in September 2026.

This role is ideal for a committed educator who believes that every child deserves an education tailored to their individual strengths and needs. You'll be joining a collaborative team that places pupils at the heart of everything they do, delivering personalised learning that supports academic achievement, independence and emotional wellbeing.

We're looking for someone with previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) who is confident managing their own classroom and able to hit the ground running from the first day of term.

 

About the Role

As a Class Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons that are carefully adapted to meet the needs of pupils with a variety of learning profiles. You'll create an environment where children feel encouraged, understood and motivated to succeed.

  • Planning and delivering imaginative, differentiated lessons across the curriculum.
  • Teaching pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, moderate learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties, communication needs and associated SEND.
  • Establishing a nurturing classroom culture built on consistency, respect and positive relationships.
  • Monitoring progress through effective assessment and adapting learning accordingly.
  • Working closely with teaching assistants to maximise pupil engagement and achievement.
  • Contributing to EHCP reviews, annual reviews and individual learning plans.
  • Collaborating with therapists, parents, carers and external agencies to support holistic pupil development.
  • Promoting independence, resilience and confidence in every learner.
  • Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion throughout the school day.

 

Who We're Looking For

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Have recent classroom teaching experience.
  • Have experience supporting children with SEND in either mainstream or specialist education.
  • Demonstrate excellent behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Be flexible, patient and solution-focused.
  • Have a genuine passion for inclusive education.
  • Be ready to make an immediate impact from September 2026.
