Teaching Assistant (SEN)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract: Full-time / Term Time Only

Bracken Hill School is a specialist school committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for children and young people with Special Educational Needs. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team and help our pupils achieve their full potential both academically and personally.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to support students with a range of additional learning, communication, and behavioural needs. You will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and build confidence in a safe and positive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
- Help pupils achieve their individual learning and EHCP targets.
- Promote positive behaviour and support students' social, emotional, and personal development.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers, and colleagues.
- Support students with varying communication, sensory, and learning needs.
- Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of all children and young people.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to remain calm and positive when supporting pupils with challenging behaviours.
- A commitment to inclusion and supporting every child to succeed.
- An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
