Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant - Rochdale

Teaching Personnel are seeking a full time Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join our client school in Rochdale to work on a 1:1 and small group basis with a number of pupils who have been identified as being at risk of being permanently excluded from main stream education.

This is a full time position for the remainder of the academic year with the opportunity of a permanent contract within the school for the incoming Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant. The school is a large modern secondary school in Rochdale with excellent facilities throughout due to their recent multi million pound investment and refurbishment. The school have a tradition of devliering strong GCSE results and generally have an excellent record of good behaviour throughout the school.

You will be required to work on a 1:1 and small group basis with a number of identified pupils within the school as you develop individual plans for each pupil in an attempt to increase their engagement within the classroom and reduce their risk of being permanently excluded from mainstream education. You will be required to have excellent behaviour management skills and previous experience as a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant or have worked in a similar capacity such as working as a Youth Worker or having supported young people in a similar role. We would also consider applicants from recent graduates with a desire to move into a career in education in the future, particularly if you have graduated in a degree such as psychology, criminology or any of the core subjects and are seeking further experience in a secondary school before enrolling on a PGCE or similar Teacher Training Programme.
