Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant

A Primary Pupil Referral Unit requires experienced youth workers to support across the KS2 classrooms within their site in Gorton starting in September 2018. This school caters for young people who are unable to access the mainstream education and mainstream classroom due to their social and emotional needs.

The young people at this school can display challenging behaviours that are shown through verbal and sometimes physical aggression. Experience working with young people who display challenging behaviours is desirable and will benefit when working with the young people within the school. The school follow a Team - Teach scheme to behaviour management which it would be ideal if you had already had the training.

The youth workers may be supporting within class or, if more suited, with the outreach team supporting young people with their social and emotional development in the community.

It would be desirable for the Youth Worker to have previous experience supporting young people academically. It would also be desirable for the Youth Worker to have relevant verbal and physical de-escalation training. Teaching Personnel are able to provide relevant training if needed.
