1:1 SEN Tutor - York (YO26)

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced 1:1 SEN Tutor to provide personalised tuition for pupils in the York (YO26) area.

This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) who may require additional academic support, alternative provision, or help re-engaging with education. The successful candidate will be confident adapting lessons to meet a range of learning needs and abilities.

The Role:

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 tuition sessions to pupils with SEN
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support individual learning styles and needs
  • Support pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
  • Build positive relationships that promote confidence, engagement, and progress
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with pupil targets
  • Complete session reports and monitor pupil progress

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant tutoring/teaching experience
  • Experience working with pupils with SEN (essential)
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • A patient, flexible, and nurturing approach to learning
  • The ability to adapt lessons to meet individual needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Pay: £25-£30+ per hour (dependent on experience)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
