Behaviour Support Mentor (Secondary School) -Wigan

Teaching Personnel are working with a medium sized, mixed sex secondary school in Wigan who are looking to appoint a Behaviour Support Mentor ASAP on a full time temporary basis.

The successful Behaviour Support Mentor will work closely with the school's pastoral team and the SENCO to provide the required support and intervention to disengaged pupils who are at risk of exclusion.

Responsibilities:

  • Working in small groups and on 1:1 with identified pupils in class and in the school's inclusion unit.
  • Implement successful behaviour interventions to identified pupils
  • Supporting students with social, emotional and mental health issues (SEMH)
  • Assist with re-integrating and engaging students back into mainstream lessons
  • Working with pupils who struggle to engage, have behavioural issues such as disruption and who are subsequently falling behind with their studies.

Key Aspects:

  • Starting ASAP (view to be needed for the full academic year).
  • Full time (term time only)
  • Earn up to £1200 per month
  • CPD opportunities through Teaching Personnel e.g. safeguarding course, Team Teach and more.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working with challenging behaviours and young people e.g. youth work, sports coaching, social care etc.
  • Have a passion for helping disadvantaged young people reach their full potential.
  • Be calm, patient and understanding towards the needs of individuals.
  • Hold a degree or have extensive experience in the field.
