Job description

Behaviour Support Mentor

Teaching Personnel are looking for someone with experience of working with secondary school age children in a Behaviour Support/Mentor capacity (either through a school, or through voluntary work) who would be available from September onwards for a full-time role until December. Teaching Personnel support Secondary Schools with staff in all areas, and one of our client schools based in the South Manchester are currently looking for a Behaviour Mentor on a long-term basis.

The school is an 11-16 Ofsted Good school situated close to public transport links and has a very well-staffed and supportive internal inclusion unit for pupils who display challenging behaviour and cannot be within normal lessons without distracting others from their education. We require someone with prior experience in this role who are enthusiastic about supporting disengaged young people with their education and can form positive working relationships with ease. You will need to have strong behaviour management skills as well as an innate ability to feel empathy for their situation.

The School are looking to appoint the right candidate prior to the school year finishing so they are all set up ready for a September start date. There is the option as well to start sooner than September, in the summer term, should you clear Teaching Personnel’s vetting process promptly. This would allow you to get to grips with the role early on, and the school would support by allowing the candidate to shadow other members of staff before starting the role properly.

  • Pay: £85 - £95 per day depending on experience
  • Full-time role from September until December (option to start earlier)
  • Secondary School based in South Manchester
  • Prior experience of working with vulnerable young people who display challenging behaviour essential

If you would like to be considered for the role, please attach you most recent CV as a file below in order to be considered. Someone from Teaching Personnel can then be in touch to discuss the registration process and move forward with the application. This will involve you either having/or being willing to apply for, an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS that is registered on the Update Service.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
