We are currently working alongside a Pupil Referral Unit in Salford to recruit a Teaching Assistant to work with children and young people with SEMH needs and associated challenging behaviour and other learning difficulties,
As a result of this you would be supporting the teacher in classes of no more than 10 pupils. The pupils would be of ages 11-12 as they move into Secondary School from Primary. Your role will mainly involve supporting the pupils with their new routines and classes, helping them to adapt to Secondary life through both academically and socially. You will be working with children and young people who are not able attend mainstream education for multiple reasons, such as:
- Children in Looked After Care
- Anxiety
- Exclusion
- Speech and language difficulties
- Physical and mental health issues, disabilities and learning difficulties
The successful Teaching Assistant would have:
- Some experience working with children and young people who display challenging behaviour
- Experience of de-escalation training would be advantageous
- The school would also consider candidates from youth work backgrounds, or similar roles
This role demands motivation, passion, patience and the ability to emotionally support children who are from vulnerable backgrounds and situations.
The school is located in the Trafford area and has excellent public transport links particularly by train and bus within a few minutes’ walk of the school.
To be successful in your application, you must be able to provide evidence of this as skills and experience.
Please be aware that all applicants will be subject to background checks and will need a current DBS certificate (update service registered). Teaching Personnel can support your application should this be required.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm approximately, but you may be offered additional duties and responsibilities outside of these hours.
What you can expect from Teaching Personnel:
- A dedicated consultant to discuss current or future roles with you
- An extensively discounted CPD program
- Payment in house, meaning no fees from Umbrella companies
- GBP10 an hour or above
- 13 weeks off per year
If this opportunity sounds like something which you would really excel in, or if you want to hear about other Teaching Assistant vacancies, please send over your up to date CV.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
