Behaviour Support Assistant

Full-time from January 2021

Working in partnership with a 'GOOD' Primary School in Harrogate, HG1, I am looking for an experienced behaviour mentor or support assistant to join the school in January 2021 on a temporary contract until the end of the academic year where there may then be the option for a permanent position in school.

The school aims to make learning exciting and meaningful so all children embrace life-long learning. They focus on children experiencing a nurturing environment in school so that each pupil can develop as an individual and build of creativity, independence and resilience. As part of the staff team you will be required to embody the schools vision and ethos in ensuring the curriculum is both challenging, stimulating and creative. You will be joining a highly supportive, large staff team that is overseen by caring and supportive senior leaders who regularly provide additional CPD and staff training.

Working as a behaviour support assistant you will be required to work 1-1 with pupils who need additional support in managing their behaviour both inside and outside of the classroom. It will be your responsibility to be proactive in intervening and using de-escalation techniques to prevent disruption in class. You will be working across the whole school where needed and should you identify individual children who may need specific 1-1 support you will be required to work closely with the schools SENCO to create a specific behaviour plan.

Requirements for the position:

  • Have experience working with primary age pupils who display challenging behaviour
  • Hold relevant training such as Team Teach or MAPA
  • Be confident in intervening with pupils in class
  • Be able to support the class teacher in their decisions to implement behaviour plans
  • Work pro-actively and independently when required
  • Hold a child only DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one

If you think this could be the ideal role for you then please contact Hannah in the Leeds Wakefield Primary Team for more information or apply via the details below.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
