Teaching Personnel is working closely with a welcoming primary school in Fleetwood to recruit a Behaviour Support Assistant to support pupils with behavioural, social and emotional needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and thrive in a school environment. While experience as a Teaching Assistant is valued, we also encourage applications from individuals with backgrounds in youth work, residential care, support work, or similar child-focused roles.

The Role

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with behavioural needs

• Help pupils regulate emotions and develop positive coping strategies

• Support the class teacher with behaviour management and engagement

• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils

• Promote a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience supporting children or young people with behavioural or additional needs

• Is calm, patient and resilient, with a positive approach to behaviour

• Can work effectively as part of a school team

• Has strong communication and relationship-building skills

• Is committed to safeguarding and promoting children’s wellbeing

Relevant experience may include:

• Teaching Assistant roles

• Youth work

• Residential care

• Support work (children or young people)

• Mental health or behavioural support roles
