Behaviour specialist Cover Supervisor

Teaching Personnel are looking for highly motivated and committed individuals in search of support roles within challenging mainstream secondary schools.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be in control of the class you are covering, ensuring they remain on task with the cover work set, but also to ensure and enforce behaviour sanctions and rewards. It is important that you are not phased by challenging behaviour and we have many schools who have a large proportion of students from difficult background who face many challenges in life and therefore find it difficult to cope within school.

A rewarding role, you'll gain valuable education based experience working with a range of pupils who will look to you as a positive role model within their school. 

Knowledge or experience of working with children who display challenging behaviour and who have learning difficulties is desirable. Candidates with experience of working alongside students with social, emotional and mental health needs would be welcomed.

 

Candidate specification:

Essential:

GCSE grade C or Level 2 equivalent functional skills in English and Maths

Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills

An ability to understand the principles of learning processes and in particular barriers to learning

The ability to recognise and be sensitive to the individual needs of students

Effective and professional communication skills with the ability to engage young people

Highly adaptable and flexible

Ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and well-being of students

Desirable:

Foundation degree or Level 5 relevant qualification/skills

Experience of working with young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties and/or challenging behaviour

Experience of working with students with a range of Special Educational Needs such as ADHD and ASD

Understanding of alternative and therapeutic interventions for student progression

The ability to work effectively as part of a team, but also to use initiative within the guidelines set by teaching staff with tact and diplomacy

Evidence of proficient Information Technology skills and the confidence and willingness to use and develop them

A willingness to increase own knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning

 

We work with multiple schools in the Portsmouth and surrounding areas. If you are available for 1 day a week or 5, we would like to hear from you.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
