Working Pattern: Monday–Thursday, 8:00am–4:00pm; Friday, 8:00am–3:30pm

The Milton Keynes Academy is looking for a caring, resilient and proactive Behaviour Support Mentor to join its dedicated Behaviour Support Team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people, promoting positive behaviour and helping students overcome barriers to learning. The successful candidate will play an important role in creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where every young person has the opportunity to succeed.

The Role

The Behaviour Support Team provides consistent and tailored support to students with complex behavioural, social and emotional needs. Working across the school, the team helps students develop the confidence, resilience and skills they need to engage positively with learning and achieve their potential.

The role will involve building positive relationships with students, supporting behaviour and wellbeing, managing challenging situations calmly and working collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

• Have experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational, pastoral or support setting.
• Have experience supporting young people with behavioural, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
• Be caring, patient, calm and resilient when dealing with challenging situations.
• Have excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills.
• Be confident building positive relationships with students, families, colleagues and external agencies.
• Have a strong understanding of safeguarding and child welfare.
• Be committed to inclusion and promoting student wellbeing.
• Be organised, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities.
• Be able to work independently while also contributing effectively to a wider team.
• Have a genuine belief that every young person can succeed when given the right support.

The Behaviour Support Team is proactive, flexible and collaborative, providing individualised support for students with complex needs.

The team works to remove barriers to learning and create opportunities for young people to develop positive behaviours, confidence and independence. This is a rewarding role for someone who wants to make a genuine and lasting difference to young people's lives.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
