Behaviour Mentor
Job description
We are seeking an experienced and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a dedicated secondary school in Heywood. This is a vital role for someone who is passionate about supporting young people, improving behaviour, and helping students re-engage positively with school life.
Working closely with Senior Leadership Team (SLT) members, you will play a key part in managing behaviour interventions, supervising the isolation room, and providing targeted support to students with challenging behaviour.
Key Responsibilities

Work alongside the SLT to implement behaviour strategies and interventions

Supervise the isolation room and support students during reflection periods
-
Build positive relationships with students who display challenging behaviour
-
Offer one-to-one or small group mentoring to encourage emotional regulation
-
Record and monitor behaviour incidents and progress

Act as a calm, consistent presence during high-pressure situations
-
Support teaching staff with behaviour management where needed
About You
-
Essential: Previous experience working with challenging behaviours
-
Strong communication and de-escalation skills
-
Calm, confident, and able to set firm boundaries
-
Empathetic yet assertive, with a passion for supporting young people
-
Ability to remain professional and composed at all times
-
Experience in a school or youth support environment is highly desirable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
