Job Duties:

  • Assist in developing and implementing behaviour management strategies to support students.
  • Provide one-on-one or group mentoring sessions to students to address behavioural issues.
  • Observe and monitor student behaviour in various settings and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create individual behaviour plans.
  • Support students in developing social skills, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour interventions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualification in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • Experience working with children or young adults with behavioural challenges.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Education:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.

Experience:

At least 2 years of experience working with individuals with behavioural challenges in an educational setting.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of behaviour management theories and practises.
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional certifications in behaviour management or counselling.
  • Experience with restorative justice practises.
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.

Working Conditions:

This role involves working in a school environment with students who may exhibit challenging behaviour. The behaviour mentor will need to be flexible in their approach and adapt to changing situations. Regular collaboration with teachers, parents, and other professionals is required to ensure the success of behaviour management strategies.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
