Behavioural Specialist

Fishponds

The governors of a school in the Fishponds Suburb of Bristol are seeking to appoint a Behavioural Specialist to work 1:1 and in small group interventions with students between the ages of 3-11 who have ASD, Moderate Learning Difficulties or Challenging Behaviour. This position would be to start in September on a 1 year fixed term contract following success in the firs term.

The ideal candidate for this position would be somebody with a background of dealing with challenging behaviour or somebody that isn't phased by this aspect of the position. You will need to be comfortable with dealing with SEMH (Social Emotional Mental Health) and SEN (Special Educational Needs).

The pupils that you will be working with can find it hard to focus in lessons. This is where you would work with them alongside support from the Class Teacher to encourage students into reaching their full potential whilst providing emotional support.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Team Teach Trained (or a similar behaviour management strategy) - We run this course across the summer so if this is something you would be interested in let us know.
  • Previous experience with children of a relevant age group
  • Experience dealing with SEN or challenging behaviour would be beneficial
  • Sports/Psychology/Care/Support backgrounds can often be helpful but not necessary
  • Dedicated to making a positive impact on these children's lives - a ''not just a job'' mentality
