This is an exciting opportunity to join a Secondary School in Newport as a Behaviour Buddy!

Are you looking to support vulnerable and disadvantaged students?

Do you have experience supporting individuals on a 1:1 or small group basis?

Would you like to help make a difference to a pupils social, emotional, and mental wellbeing?

The Role - Behaviour Buddy

The school is looking for a Behaviour Buddy who can bring a positive mindset in and around the classroom, someone who is charismatic, and works well within a team.

As a Behaviour Buddy you'll be tasked to support students in KS3 and KS4.

The pupils you will be supporting will have varying social, emotional, and mental health behavioural needs and require extra support to engage in learning activities within the mainstream lessons.  For certain pupils, you will also be required to provide interventions outside of the classroom where needed.

  • £83 - £100 a day 
  • Hours: 08:30 – 15:30 (tem time only)
  • Secondary School, Newport
  • Start: ASAP

Responsibilities:

  • Provide pupils with encouragement, support and comfort
  • Contribute to a safe, positive atmosphere that helps children learn and develop
  • Playing a major role in the safeguarding and welfare of the pupils
  • Support teachers with general day to day class activities
  • Work with children with behaviour that challenges

Requirements:

We are seeking individuals that are confident with behaviour management skills and have experience working/volunteering with children or adults with behavioural difficulties.

Youth Work, Psychology and Sports experience is also an advantage!

  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • An understanding of strategies required to form strong working relationships with young people
  • Experience working with young people in the last 2 years
  • Sensitive to the varying needs of young people and individuals
  • Experience of behaviour management (nice to have) 
  • Genuine passion and belief in the potential of every student

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
