Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with an excellent SEND provision in Stockton who are seeking a teaching assistant on a full time basis, to commence from the October half term supporting students with Autism.

The role will involve working on a small group basis with pupils from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4 who have Autism ranging from moderate to severe, many of the students also have sensory impairments and will exhibit challenging behaviour. The students are in need of extra support and guidance primarily with their behaviour management and assistance adhering to their daily routine in school. You will be expected to monitor children's academic and personal progress within lessons, and you will have regular meetings with the class teacher to discuss this.

The ideal candidate will have at least one years experience with Autism and will have a background either in education or care, no qualifications are mandatory for this role although you will benefit from Team Teach. You will be passionate about improving the lives of young people and have a strong desire to work with SEND.
