Reception Teaching Assistant Required to Support Autistic Child – Paddington-Westminster

  • Reception TA - 1:1 and SEN
  • School is very close to Paddington Station
  • Chance to make a real difference to a child with Autism

I'm currently working with a large primary school in Hackney looking for a Teaching Assistant to work with an Autistic child.

Start date:

The school would like the chosen candidate to start as soon as possible; however, they’re encouraging people to apply past the closing date as they are willing to wait for the right person.

The position:

I now have a vacancy working in the Early Years supporting a child with mild Autism. The child is a lovely boy, who needs some support and focus with his class-work. He is in Reception and needs someone who is really able to support him with his early development.

The school:

The school is a 3-form entry school with a children’s centre and Autism Resource Base. They have good ‘OFSTED report and have high standards of learning. This is a welcoming and high achieving primary school with an excellent support network and behavioural management strategy in place.

The school has excellent transport links and sits very close to Paddington Station. The chosen candidate will be working at the school for rest of this academic year and will also be supporting the whole reception class.

The ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting children or adults 1:1 with Autism, challenging behaviour or Severe Learning Difficulties. Desired backgrounds include schools, youth organisations or care work. Having experience with PECS or Makaton isn’t essential but would be beneficial.

The Interview:

You will be asked to attend a trial day where you’ll be observed working alongside the child. There will also be an informal interview with SENCO.

If you’re interested in the role, please contact kelvin, Teaching Personnel’s Westminster consultant on 020 7593 3088.
