A Head of Autism Department is required on a full-time basis for a Autism unit located in Thetford, Norfolk

  • Senior Leadership role with excellent rates of pay from ÂŁ32,000 to ÂŁ60,000 per annum
  • Small education provision with experienced SEN support staff who are trained to a very high level
  • An involved role where you will be also required to teach, whilst motivating and managing you own staff, whilst ensuring the highest level of education is provided to the pupils

We are looking to appoint a Head of the Autism Department of a large and established SEN School in Thetford, Norfolk. This role is immediately permanent and on a full-time basis with excellent rates of pay - basic pay + SEN point + TLR.

Your role and responsibility will be as follows:

* To be responsible for the day to day management of staff within the department and to act as a positive role model

* To engage in Continuous Professional Development

* A 75% teaching timetable

* To develop and review syllabuses, resources, schemes of work, marking policies, assessment and teaching and learning strategies in the department

* To oversee quality of Teaching and Learning within the department, reporting to the Head of School

* To co-ordinate and oversee the implementation of relevant intervention programmes for identifies students, ensuring they are targeted effectively, tracked and evidenced to an acceptable standard, reporting to the Head of School

* Contributing to implementing school policies on curriculum, teaching and learning, assessment, recording and reporting

* To be accountable for pupil progress and development within the subject area

* to ensure Behaviour Management systems are implemented in the department so that effective learning can take place

* To ensure effective communication and consultation with the parents / carers of pupils

* Ensure student weekly reports are completed on time and are produced to an acceptable standard

You will also be required to support and develop other areas which can be discussed in more detail.
