Job description

Teaching Assistant, 1 year.

Additional Learning Needs Base

 

 

Role:  32.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday

Start: 02/09/2024 or earlier if possible

Contract: 1 year min. with the opportunity to take a permanent role.

Training Provided: Level 2 Safeguarding, Internal School Training

Location: Barry, Vale of Glamorgan

Pay: From £420/week

 

Teaching Personnel are looking to take on a confident and proactive Teaching Assistant to work with students aged 11 - 18 in a large, thriving Additional Needs department in Barry.

The school are looking to support learners with Additional Needs and Challenging Behaviour who struggle with engagement in school. The pupils would benefit from the support of a Teaching Assistant with previous childcare or care experience, and a can-do attitude to support through KS3 and KS4 (ages 11 – 18). A strong interest in Additional Needs support, and the drive to make a difference is essential for this role.

This is an incredibly rewarding position where no day is the same; the students take part in a mix of mainstream and alternative provision learning, using a range of sports, arts, kitchen, and animal care facilities to encourage positive engagement with learning!

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students aged 11 - 18 within the ALN department. 
  • Working on a 1:1 and small group basis with learners with Additional Learning Needs, primarily Autism and disengagement in school.
  • Assisting the Class Teachers, and Senior Team, with managing pupil behaviour and monitoring process.
  • Engaging learners using adapted curriculums and additional activities to create a positive learning environment for all.

 

An Enhanced DBS Certificate (Child Only) and EWC Registration will be required before beginning this role. Support will be provided for those who don’t already hold these.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
