Job Advert: 1:1 Support Assistant (Primary School)
Location: Bristol
About the Role
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated 1:1 Support Assistant to join our friendly and inclusive primary school team. The successful candidate will work closely with a specific pupil who requires additional support due to [e.g. special educational needs / autism / speech and language difficulties / behavioural needs].
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a child’s educational journey by helping them thrive both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide individual support for a named pupil throughout the school day.

Work under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored interventions.

Adapt classroom activities to meet the child’s learning and emotional needs.
-
Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction.
-
Assist with personal care if required (dependent on pupil’s needs).
-
Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews of progress and provision.
✅ We’re Looking for Someone Who:

Has experience working with children, ideally in a school or SEN setting.
-
Demonstrates patience, empathy, and resilience.
-
Communicates clearly and confidently with children and adults.
-
Can work well as part of a team but also shows initiative.
-
Understands the importance of inclusive education.
-
Holds or is willing to work towards a relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
