Job description

1:1 Teaching Assistant – SEN (Ages 5–16)
Full-time | Immediate Start | Christchurch

We are working in partnership with a highly respected specialist education setting in Christchurch that is widely recognised for its nurturing ethos, personalised approach to learning, and strong focus on pupil wellbeing.

The school provides a calm, supportive environment where children and young people are encouraged to develop confidence, independence, and a positive relationship with learning.


 

The Role

  • Full-time 1:1 Teaching Assistant position

  • Supporting pupils aged 5–16

  • Working hours: 8.30am to 3.30pm

  • Immediate start available

  • Primary and secondary support opportunities

  • Providing consistent one-to-one support to help pupils access learning

  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, engagement, and daily routines


 

Student Needs

Pupils may present with a range of special educational needs, including:

  • Autism spectrum conditions

  • Learning and communication difficulties

  • Social, emotional and behavioural needs

  • Sensory processing differences


 

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months’ childcare experience, particularly supporting children with SEN

  • A calm, patient and resilient approach

  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Must be able to drive due to the rural location of the school

  • Willingness to work closely with teaching and support staff

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
