1:1 ASC Specialist Teaching Assistant – Full Time
Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract Type: Full Time, Fixed Term (linked to pupil funding)
Salary: Dependent on experience and qualifications

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated and knowledgeable 1:1 ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition) Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our warm and inclusive primary school in Wellingborough.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with a child with a diagnosis of ASC, supporting their learning, communication, and emotional development in a nurturing and structured environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support for a pupil with ASC throughout the school day

  • Implement strategies to support communication, social interaction, and sensory regulation

  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals to deliver individualised support plans

  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment

  • Support the child during unstructured times (e.g. break, lunch) as needed


We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children with Autism, ideally in a school setting

  • Demonstrates patience, empathy and a calm, consistent approach

  • Understands the principles of structured teaching (e.g. TEACCH, visual supports, sensory strategies)

  • Can work flexibly as part of a supportive team

  • Is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and thrive
