Youth Worker Teaching Assistant- Tower Hamlets

We are seeking a youth worker teaching assistant to support an alternative provision based in East London. They have 2 new secondary aged students in Tower Hamlets who require 1:1 support on core subjects , one pupil has a statement of emotional behavioural needs and the other has autism and presents with challenging behaviours and social communication needs. This will be working in an expanding, welcoming school that are looking for someone with great confidence, bags of personality and previous experience working with behavioural needs. Due to the nature of pupil's needs you will need to be extremely resilient, the two young people do push boundaries so you need be patient and consistent to support their educational needs. You will have the opportunity to meet the students you will be paired with, meet their parents and together with the school devise a plan of action best suited to pupil needs. In return they are offering development opportunities, paid training and a permanent contract after the probation period.

Youth worker teaching assistant profile:

  • Experienced with supporting challenging young people who are disengaged from their education and present with challenging behaviours and other special needs, autism
  • Providing and planning 1:1 sessions for 2 students with autism and behavioural needs in their homes or in libraries or in one of the alternative provision centres
  • Deliver support on Literacy and Numeracy at secondary level
  • You need to be creative and confident!
  • On site newly furbished creative hub which features a sensory room , construction site , music and art therapy rooms
