Year 4 Class Teacher - Darwen

Are you looking to take the next step in your teaching career?

Are you an effective Key Stage 2 teacher with a proven track record of raising attainment and running a bright and happy classroom?

Do you have a passion for education and the development of young people?

A primary school in Darwen, Lancashire, are seeking a primary teacher to cover a maternity leave in their Year 4 class. The role is to begin mid-October and is planned to continue until the end of the 2019-2020 academic year. The school are interested in hearing from both newly qualified teachers looking to take the first step in their new and exciting career in teaching and fully-qualified teachers wanting a change!

The successful candidate will take responsibility for a class of 29 Year 4 pupils, who the previous Class Teacher described as 'delightful and a joy to teach'. The pupils have a good understanding of the school's policy for managing behaviour and the consequences for their actions. Behaviour of the pupils is good; however, it is important that the class teacher has high expectations and is consistent with their management of behaviour. Teaching and learning will be drawn from the school's current curriculum which is centred around quality literature; conversely senior leaders are open to new ideas that will engage and excite the children. In regards to the teaching of mathematics, the school follow the Singapore Maths scheme of work. Experience of this style of maths teaching isn't essential but is highly beneficial.

The primary school in which this role is situated is graded 'GOOD' by Ofsted, with 'OUTSTANDING' features. The leadership team have created strong foundations from which the school can grow and develop from, and staff members cannot emphasise enough how supportive they are. The school is located in a semi-rural area of Darwen and serves a mixed catchment group. The proportion of pupils known to be eligible for the pupil premium funding is inline with the national average, as is the proportion of children with SEN.

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Recent KS2 teaching experience
  • Good references
