Contract Type: Temporary, Full Time

If you are a KS1 primary teacher looking for your next long-term role in education, our partner school is looking for a capable year 1 primary teacher to cover a maternity leave. This catholic school has a pupil led approach, focusing on their personal development as well as academic progress. This is a nurturing environment which is perfect for an ECT looking for their first full time position or an experienced KS1 primary teacher interested in exploring a new and welcoming school.

Year 1 Primary Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high‑quality lessons in line with the KS1 National Curriculum (Years 1).
  • Teach core subjects English, Maths and Science. Help children understand key principles and develop reading, writing and mathematical skills.
  • Using assessment data to track progress and prepare pupils for KS1 statutory assessments.
  • Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of individual pupils (SEND, EAL, SEMH).
  • Collaborate with colleagues such as SENCO, teaching assistants and SLT.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers about progress and wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and assessment data.
  • Contribute to school initiatives, staff meetings, and extracurricular activities.

Year 1 Primary Teacher Requirements:

  • Hold a degree with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Clear understanding of assessment frameworks, including statutory assessments.
  • Knowledge of effective teaching strategies to support pupil progress.
  • Understand and uphold safeguarding, child protection, and inclusion.
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment where pupils are comfortable and engaged in their education.
  • Professional attitude and commitment to Teachers’ Standards.
