Welfare Assistant for Children with Learning Difficulties

Teaching Personnel are in looking for individuals in Sheffield to provide high quality care for young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). These include profound developmental delay, physical disabilities, learning difficulties, sensory and communication impairments and Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC).

We are looking for Welfare Assistants to aid in the care of these young people in order for them to have an accessible and valuable education during their time in these provisions. You will be in charge of their personal care, reducing their discomfort during lesson times and supporting their development. You will be overseeing the general welfare of those in your care and following the correct safeguarding procedures of the schools. Part of your role will include liaising with parents/carers and other outside agencies, such as medical staff. You will aid the communication between teachers and students by recognising the individual ways in which students express themselves.

We are looking for people who:

  • Have previous experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs
  • Are able to assist in personal care e.g. toileting
  • Recognise each pupil's individualised needs and can adapt to these
  • Are able to follow the personal care plans of students in accordance with medical staff, therapists and teachers

Teaching Personnel can offer you the additional training you may need for this role, so do not hesitate to apply! We also provide access to our CPD Academy to enhance your personal development. Get in touch today to speak to your own Specialist Consultant who will guide you through the recruitment process.
