Mixed Year 5/6 full-time class teaching role- September start in a Leeds Primary school in LS11 (permanent)
A client school of Teaching Personnel in South Leeds (LS11) have got in touch with the agency as they require an upper KS2 Teacher for a mixed year 5/6 teacher on a full-time basis for a permanent contract starting in the new academic year (September 2020). If you are experienced in upper KS2 and have good knowledge of the curriculum then you could be exactly what the school is looking for!
The school...
The current Year 5/6 class teacher is due to finish in July 2020 and therefore the school are looking to replace this experienced teacher from September 2020 for a full-time / permanent position. This is a larger than average sized Primary school (2.5 form entry) with another two mixed Year 5/6 teachers. Therefore, the school need someone who can work collaboratively with these teachers and make sure class are well prepared for KS2 SATs in 2021. The current Year 4/5 class (due to be in Year 5/6 in September) has 30 children who are of mixed ability levels with some speaking English as an Additional Language. Therefore, the school are looking for an experienced Teacher who is able to differentiate accordingly.
The school itself is the Hunslet (LS11) area of Leeds and is therefore easy to get to by car, bus or train, with amply parking space available. The Head has been at the school for 5 years, and when last inspected by Ofsted in 2017 the school were graded as GOOD, and the Head has kept the results consistent at the school over a number of years. The school is a lovely environment to work in, and although behaviour at times can be challenging in particular classes it is dealt with effectively by members of staff through de-escalation and remaining calm – which is vital to the school’s behaviour policy.
The ideal candidate would be someone with good experience upper Key Stage 2. This is because the other class teacher is highly experienced in upper KS2, but the school do not want them relied upon too much for support and guidance to facilitate the return being as gradual as possible. The SLT want someone with a good track record in raising attainment of preparation for KS2 SATs and a practitioner who is effective at identifying and addressing gaps in knowledge in the class quickly and efficiently through smaller group work when necessary. The school also want a strong teacher as the class can be distracted at times, and this of course would not prepare them effectively for KS2 SATs. Any particular specialism in Maths would also go a long way as this has traditionally let the school down in recent years.
