Unqualified Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant – Full Time
Location: Aberdare, CF44
Pay: £89.38 per day (£13.75 per hour)

Do you have a passion for supporting young people and helping them reach their full potential? We’re working with a welcoming secondary school in Aberdare that is seeking an unqualified SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team on a full-time basis.

No formal teaching qualifications are required – just enthusiasm, patience, and a genuine commitment to making a difference.


Role Overview: What You’ll Be Doing

As a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll provide targeted support to students with additional learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum and develop their skills. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting individual students and small groups in lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
  • Assisting the class teacher with differentiated activities and resources
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in learning
  • Helping students build confidence, independence, and social skills
  • Following safeguarding policies and reporting concerns appropriately

What We’re Looking For

This role is ideal for individuals who:

  • Have experience working with young people, ideally in an educational or care setting
  • Are patient, empathetic, and adaptable
  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Are passionate about supporting students with additional learning needs
  • Can work well both independently and as part of a team

Requirements

If you don’t have these yet, we can support you in obtaining:

  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
  • Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration
  • Two professional references covering the past two years
