About the Role-

As a Residential Support Worker, you will be a vital part of a Further Education college multidisciplinary team, supporting people 16+ with a wide range of Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including ASD, ADHD, complex physical needs, and behavioural challenges, within both residential and educational settings.

Working closely with Teachers, ALN Support Staff, and Residential Team Leaders, you will help create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where learners feel secure, respected, and encouraged to develop independence, confidence, and essential life skills.

Your role will include providing day‑to‑day care and support within the on‑site college residential homes, assisting learners with routines such as personal care, wellbeing, and daily living skills. You will also support learners during the college day, both in small groups and through 1:1 support, helping them to engage with learning programmes, practical activities, and community‑based opportunities.

Daily responsibilities-

• Support learners within the residential homes to follow daily routines, including mornings, evenings, and transitions between activities.
• Assist with personal care, where required, in a respectful and dignified manner, following care plans and moving & handling guidance.
• Promote independence in daily living skills such as dressing, hygiene, meal preparation, and housekeeping tasks.
• Support learners to manage their wellbeing, including emotional reassurance and encouraging healthy choices.

Requirements-

-          No previous experience working as a support worker is required. (Although experience working with people with additional learning needs is preferable).

-          We are looking for individuals who have a positive attitude and a genuine passion in working with learners with ALN.

-          Being adaptable in high-pressure environments, whilst maintaining compassionate and calm is key. 

-          Training in Manual Handling is favoured.

-          Child and Adult Enhanced DBS on the Update service (we can help you with this!).

-          Education Workforce registration (EWC) (Again, we can help!).

-          Full UK driving licence and access to personal transport.
