Tutors needed for Looked After Children

Teaching Personnel are looking for tutors in the Barnsley area to provide tuition for looked after children on a 1:1 basis. Students generally need support with core subjects and some may be approaching exams. Student’s ages can differ so we accept applications from different tutors. The settings for the tuition can vary between the child’s care home, in school or in a local library for example, whatever works best for the student.

  • You will be paid weekly and receive GBP20-GBP25 an hour
  • As a tutor you will be required to plan, deliver and assess the student’s work whilst creating a trusting environment
  • You will be asked to provide weekly feedback reports
  • You may need to conduct baseline assessments to initially evaluate your student’s working levels
  • Some of the children will be vulnerable and all will come from different backgrounds so it is important you are a caring individual
  • The work is flexible and tutors can often complete multiple assignments per week

Requirements:

  • QTS, a recognised teaching qualification and/or tuition experience
  • A Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to get one)
  • Driving license is preferred as you may be required to travel between locations
