Teaching Personel are looking for a tutor to support 2 non-identical 16 year old twin boys who live in the Nottinghamshire area, for 20 hours per week (4 hours per day Monday - Friday).
The boys are both diagnosed with Autism and are extremely socially withdrawn. They present with high levels of anxiety and have low self-esteem.
They are both working at below expected levels and are selective mute, therefore they will need someone who is extremely sensitive to these issues and can offer nurturing and engaging support. It is likely that this role will be long term as although they are Year 11; we are looking for the support to include preparation to go to a college next year, but a lot of work will need to be done to manage their anxiety around this.
The ideal candidate for this will be:
- An experienced SEN Teacher with knowledge and confidence to work with pupils who have Autism, anxiety and limited communication
- A creative, engaging and nurturing teacher who is passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people
- A teacher who will persevere and go the extra mile to build a strong foundation of rapport with the students and the family, so that a holistic approach to their education can be implemented, even if there is limited engagement
- Someone who is confident to plan and deliver work at KS3 and KS4 ability levels, in cross-curricular subjects
Expectations of the role:
- Tutoring 10 - 2 each day (2 hours per student on a 1:1 basis)
- Persevering in creative ways and working closely with the Local authority and the students Mum to offer a holistic approach
- Planning and delivering cross-curricular subjects with a focus on preparation for going to college in the future
- Managing Autism effectively
- Providing weekly feedback forms to the Local Authority and regular telephone calls with Mum
- Liaising with other professional staff where appropriate
