Job description

Are you an experienced and passionate tutor or mentor with a desire to make a meaningful impact in young people’s lives?

We are currently looking for a dedicated Tutors based in Woolwich who is able to work across the surrounding areas. This is a flexible, referral-based role supporting children and young people who are not currently in full-time education.

About the Role:

  • Work with children and young people on a 1:1 basis

  • Referrals come from local authorities, with sessions ranging from 2 to 15 hours per week

  • Deliver tailored support, primarily in Maths or English

  • Locations vary – sessions may take place at the pupil’s home, in a community setting, or occasionally online

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience supporting children or young people in a tutoring or mentoring capacity

  • Experience working with those with SEMH needs, Autism, Anxiety, and/or Looked After Children (LAC)

  • Strong subject knowledge in Maths and/or English

  • A compassionate, patient and flexible approach to learning

  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, individualised lesson

  • Safeguarding training and an up-to-date Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., teaching, SEN support, mentoring)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
