Job description

Job Title: 1:1 Secondary Tutor (School & Home-Based) – Wellingborough Area

Location: Wellingborough and surrounding areas
Hours: Flexible (during school hours)
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role
We are seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated 1:1 Secondary Tutor to support students across the Wellingborough area, either within school settings or in their home during school hours. This role involves working with secondary-aged pupils who may require additional support to stay engaged with their studies and achieve their academic potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver tailored 1:1 tuition sessions aligned with the secondary curriculum
  • Support pupils in subjects such as English, Maths, and/or Science (KS3–KS4)
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet individual learning needs and abilities
  • Prepare students for GCSEs and assessments where required
  • Build strong, positive relationships to encourage confidence and engagement
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback
  • Ensure all safeguarding and compliance procedures are followed

Requirements

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students (teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of the UK secondary curriculum (KS3–KS4)
  • Ability to deliver engaging and structured lessons
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage your schedule

Desirable

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or currently completing a PGCE (Secondary)
  • Experience supporting SEN pupils or those with additional needs
  • Subject specialism in English, Maths, or Science
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
