Job description

Job Title: 1:1 Tutor (School & Home-Based) – Northampton & Daventry Area

Location: Northampton, Daventry, and surrounding areas
Hours: Flexible (during school hours)
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced 1:1 Tutor to support pupils across the Northampton and Daventry areas. This role involves working either within school settings or in pupils’ homes during school hours, delivering tailored support to help students achieve their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalised 1:1 tuition sessions based on individual learning needs
  • Support pupils in core subjects such as English, Maths, and/or Science
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit a range of abilities, including SEN pupils
  • Build strong, positive relationships to encourage engagement and confidence
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress
  • Follow safeguarding and compliance procedures at all times

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ UK teaching or tutoring experience
  • Strong understanding of the UK curriculum (Primary and/or Secondary)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule

Desirable

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or currently studying towards a PGCE
  • Experience supporting SEN or pupils with additional needs
  • Subject specialism in English, Maths, or Science
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
