Job description

Do you have the passion and creativity to inspire young people who have disengaged from mainstream education?

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Alternative Provision Tutor to join our team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support learners in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, helping them to re-engage with education, build confidence, and achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, tailored sessions in core subjects (English, Maths, and/or other areas depending on expertise).

  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet a range of learning styles and needs, including SEMH and SEND.

  • Provide academic and pastoral support, encouraging resilience and self-esteem.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers, and external agencies to support student progress.

  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and outcomes.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has teaching or tutoring experience, ideally with young people outside mainstream education.

  • Can demonstrate patience, empathy, and strong behaviour management strategies.

  • Is flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing needs.

  • Holds relevant qualifications (QTS desirable but not essential; experience in tutoring/mentoring also considered).

  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
