Train to become a teacher

Date posted : 12/06/19
£120 - £160 per day

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

There are more students in schools, less graduates entering initial teacher training and more teachers leaving the profession. It's a problem on the minds of all senior leaders and Teaching Personnel are best placed in the market to deliver a solution. The government have set Initial Teacher Training providers a KPI to recruit 15 graduates each year, yet most don't meet this demand. This presents a huge opportunity for Teaching Personnel to help and grow our long-term base throughout the academic year.

Teaching Personnel's "Future Teachers" is designed to help address the teacher shortages across England & Wales by attracting and supporting bright graduates or career changers who are considering a career in teaching but wish to gain practical experience before enrolling in formal teacher training.

Our Future Teachers will gain invaluable experience in a variety of roles in schools and in turn schools have the opportunity to see if the candidate is suitable to support on a formal teacher training programme.

How the programme will work:

- Teaching Personnel recruits graduates or career changes who are interested in a career in teaching but want to 'try before they buy'.

- Future Teachers programme will be marketed to our schools to help them with their sourcing of candidates who have potential to 'train to teach'.

- Future Teachers will be found roles in schools to gain school experience undertaking:

- Cover Supervisor work covering lessons and developing classroom management skills

- One to One specific tuition/interventions, utilising subject knowledge to raise pupil attainment

- SEN support working with pupils with Special Educational Needs

- In-class support in a specialist subject to enhance pupils learning experience

- Assistance with planning and preparation of lessons alongside teachers

The roles being offered should ideally be full time and a minimum of one term, but we can be flexible to find a solution that works for both sides.

Ideally the school will need to support the candidate by offering opportunities for them to observe and work with staff to understand different elements of the teaching role - planning and preparation, assessment, behaviour management and good practice. If the school can appoint an informal 'mentor' that would be ideal.

To be considered for this role, you will be required to:

  • Have a DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
  • Be able to provide two references from the last 6 years

We also offer a broad range of opportunities to work with secondary aged students and with students with a variety of different specialist needs. These include, but are not exclusive to, Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties, Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties, Physical Difficulties, hearing and visual impairments, Behavioural issues and Social, emotional and mental health issues.

If you fit the above criteria and are looking for a new exciting opportunity to further your career then please call Harry on 01604 521215.
