Teaching Personnel are recruiting for a Specialist SLD Teacher. The position is to start on 16th Aoril on a full-time basis untilthe end of term. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience working with moderate/severe learning difficulties.

We are working on behalf of a 'Specialist SEN School' in Mansfield for children (Aged between 3-19 years) with moderate, severe and complex learning difficulties. Most pupils have a degree of Moderate or Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD) some pupils also have Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC).

You will be teaching a class of 8 pupils between the ages of 12-19, with severe learning difficulties and limited communication. You will also be responsible for 4 teaching assistants. 1 TA will provide support with the curriculum and the other 3 TAs will be responsible for the childrens well-being.

We are looking for candidates with the following skills:

  • Fully qualified teacher (with QTS).
  • Extensive experience supporting children with MLD/SLD or on the Autistic spectrum, including those with communication difficulties.
  • Training and/or experience using Makaton, PECS and other forms of communication aids for students with impaired communication.
  • Ability to work on your own and as part of a team.
  • Confidence to liaise with multi-disciplinary teams including school staff, parents, Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists.
  • Some experience working in an SEN setting, in-particular knowledge of P-Levels.
  • Additional qualifications in Team Teach, MAPA, Autism, Manual Handling etc are desirable but NOT essential.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
