Are you a Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs?
Then this could be the role for you!
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our vivacious and hard-working staff. You will work with SEN students identified with ASC (autistic spectrum condition) or children needing speech and language support, on both a 1:1 basis and with small groups and will contribute towards a purposeful learning environment by supporting classroom teachers in teaching and learning. The school are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to support SEN in their Early Years Setting, so experience working with children in Nursery/Reception would be beneficial.
The ideal candidate will have some experience of working with SEN and will have outstanding inter-personal skills. You will need to be patient and sensitive with the ability to encourage and motivate children as well as being able to work effectively in a team. Experience of ASC and current phonics schemes will be advantageous, but not essential if you are willing to develop your skills and attend training. You will need to take into account children's learning styles and what motivates them to stay engaged, using positive behaviour management.
Our ideal SEN Teaching Assistant would be;
- experienced supporting children with ASC/Speech and Language/SEN
- have a good knowledge of behaviour management techniques
- be patient and sensitive
- be able to motivate children who are disengaged from their learning
- experienced supporting children in the Early Years/KS1 setting
- Moving and Handling/Team Teach/THRIVE trained would be beneficial but not essential
