A specialist school in Salford are currently looking to recruit a teaching assistant to start immediately after the Summer half term. This position is ongoing and will involve working 5 days per week 8.30am - 3.30pm.
The setting provides education for pupils 4-11 who are being educated outside of mainstream schools. Pupils who attend the setting may be being educated out of mainstream for a variety of reasons including: social, emotional and mental health needs and pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour. The main aim of the setting is to support pupils and integrate them back into a mainstream; however this is not always possibility.
The pupils who attend this setting will often display signs of extreme challenging behaviour so if you have worked in a challenging setting for example: a residential home, pupil referral unit or alternative secure unit. Individuals from residential backgrounds tend to excel in these roles as they have developed an understanding of the effectiveness of a nonsense approach.
Due to the specific needs of the pupils the ideal Teaching Assistant will have:
- High levels of physical and emotional resilience
- An understanding of the importance of effective de-escalation tactics
- Team- Teach training (can be provided)
- An in-depth understanding of crisis prevention tactics
